How Team ArtZolo.com is cracking the art market

What motivated you to start Artzolo.com and what is it all about?

ArtZolo.com was started to become the engaging platform for art lovers and artists. There are a lot of people who are doing bits of these, we decided to take it a step further and provide all necessary aids for art lovers and artists to enjoy art.  

Could you please tell our readers what is your current team size and introduce them?

Our founding team consists of 2 members.   Vishal Singhal – MBA (Rotman School of Management, Univ of Toronto), M.Sc (Software engineering) He has a wide range of experience across different verticals of a corporate. After his graduation in Software Engineering, he worked for over 4 years with Infosys in Bangalore and US. During his MBA, he was picked as one of the key members to work on one of the largest retailers in the world to work on a project fuelled by high degree of Innovation. Post MBA, he worked in New York and Toronto in one of the world’s leading Brand Management firms, WPP as a Sr. Business Analyst, Strategy dealing with top level executives. Coming from an entrepreneurial family, entrepreneur beckoned him to come back and do something different which led him to where he is now.   Preeti Singhal – Holds a Degree in Interior Design, B.Com She holds a degree in both Commerce and Design. After studies she took major responsibilities in operations and delivery for her existing entrepreneurial business in Textiles. She is creative and understand various aspect of business from operations to delivery to consumer behaviour. She has worked for over 6 years in her family business. Currently she is leading all efforts on the product ArtZolo which has gained a significant market traction. She revolutionised the product in a very simplistic manner fostering innovation and creativity.   Question 3 – What is the current size of the market/industry? Any projected growth rates? Who are your major competitors and how are you differentiated? We are looking at a very organized sector getting into some shape. So there are a lot of numbers that are going to be unclaimed. Reported numbers for art & craft is over 7B USD and growing. The reported growth is nearly 16CAGR.   We have both direct and indirect competition in this space. A flamboyant gallery in the hearts of Mumbai city or an online portal who sells home and décor items are also considered our competitors.   We are unique by providing the centre stage to artist, thereby keeping it very transparent to the art lovers. Secondly, we have a wide range of features for the lovers to preview the art before buying, some basic stats around the artworks to help them better choose the artwork. We also offer the artist to sell prints to make additional income  

What is your revenue model? Would it be possible to give a ballpark figure of your hurrent revenue? Anything in which you are comfortable with.

Our revenue model is commission and licensing.

How do you market Artzolo.com online/ offline ? Do you use any social media platforms?

Until a few months ago, we were letting ArtZolo grow organically. We have started the push to engage social media channels recently. We have a decent presence on Facebook. We have just started our journey on Twitter and Pinterest.

What are the challenges that you have faced/are facing in marketing  Artzolo.com?

The biggest challenges have been with the perspective of educating user and creating awareness.

What advice you would give to someone starting new?

Understand your business and your customer very well. Product/Service Positioning and market differentiation has to be clear to a consumer but it is always a challenge to put together what is perceived and what should a consumer consume.
