Headsets.com was born because Mike Faith, the founder of the company did not get great service and quality product  with the headset he bought. He thought there lies an opportunity and started Headsets.com to serve people better.

Question 1 – What motivated you to start Headsets.com and what is it all about?

Mike – I was using headsets in another business, and couldn’t get the service or quality of headsets I wanted. And I thought there must be a better way of doing it and bingo, I was in the headset business.

Question 2 –  Could you please tell our readers what is your current team size and introduce them?

Mike – I have about 40 people in the company. Terrific people that work hard and get what we do. My real secret is my EA, Marty Wetsch, who does much more work than me.

Question 3 – What is the current size of the market/industry? Any projected growth rates? Who are your major competitors and how are you differentiated?

Mike – The office headset market is about half a billion in the US, with small growth. We own about 3% of that market, but are growing slowly. We’ll take over the #1 position by about 2035 .

Question 4 – On Headsets.com which brand headset in each of the follwoing category sells the most office/home/computer and mobile?

Mike – Our biggest seller is the OfficeRunner. We co-brand it with Sennheiser, and it represents about 60% of our sales. By far the best headset out there. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5_A97x6_OM] Video Source : Headsets.com

Question 5 – How do you market Headsets.com online/ offline ? Do you use any social media platforms?

Mike – We market with direct mail and PPC, however a lot of our business comes through natural search. Type in headsets and presto, we are usually top of the search engine.

Question 6 – What are the challenges that you have faced/are facing in marketing Headsets.com?

Mike – It is always expensive to find and educate new customers, but we are getting there slowly. People often think about cell phone headsets, rather than office headsets, which is where our market is.

Question 7 – What advice you would give to someone starting new?

Mike – I really don’t like to give advice, as you never know what context someone else’s situation is, but I can say for me that starting a new company and building it has been fun, exhausting, kept me up many, many nights and worth it. My two favorite books that have influenced me most in business have been the 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing  by Al Reis and the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team by Pat Lencioni.
